McCoy Memorial Garden
Behind and beside the Co-op is roughly 6,000 square feet of neglected space. The passion of former Director, Rev. Hunter Cummings, for an ENCM garden has finally manifested. The McCoy Memorial Garden is now a 4,000 square foot sustainably grown garden that will serve as a source of produce for the food bank, a recreational space for community interaction, and an educational forum for local gardeners and public school students. The garden was named so to honor the late Neely “Mac” McCoy and his wife Juanita Edith McCoy for their years of commitment to ENCM.
Inglewood Cooperative Garden
East Nashville Cooperative Ministry has received a generous gift of space in the form of land by Inglewood Church of the Nazarene. The Southeast portion of the parsonage yard off Gallatin Rd will serve as our second community garden site, and will double our current growing space. The Inglewood garden is across the street from our Inglewood food bank, providing an easy means of allocating this fresh produce to our neighbors.
Mas Gardens
“Mas Gardens” is the provisional name for our third cooperative garden effort, inspired by East Nashville’s well-known Mas Tacos Por Favor. Teresa, the “Taco Lady” and the owner of Mas Tacos, is committed to using locally grown whole foods for her Latin creations, and has inspired ENCM to use some of its produce to support local food vendors.
Antioch Farm
Friends of the Co-op having provided acreage in Antioch to increase ENCM’s gardening efforts. The potential this acreage provides for our efforts in East Nashville is substantial. Visit our garden site to see how we are planning to use this land in the near future and to catch a glimpse of our long-term vision.
