Mission and Vision
Mission
The East Nashville Cooperative Ministry is a Christian, ecumenical organization created and maintained for the purpose of improving the East Nashville community.
Vision
ENCM envisions an East Nashville where citizen’s needs—spiritual, educational, economic, mental, physical, and emotional—are holistically met, and upon the development of relationships, individuals and neighborhoods are enabled to thrive.
ENCM is a 501c3 non-profit, interdenominational organization, which is currently supported by several dozen faith communities and hundreds of individuals. This support enables us to serve as a “safety-net,” a “clearinghouse,” and a “developer.” As a safety-net we help the elderly, poor, disabled, unemployed, and disadvantaged to avoid falling into homelessness. As a clearinghouse, we reduce the duplication of services in East Nashville by housing basic clothing and food for local churches and agencies to distribute to those in need. As a developer, we work to empower community wellbeing by educating on matters of food production and consumption.
ENCM is a Christian ministry: all our services are a manifestation of the gospel insofar as our organization “lives” hospitably to those in need. As a safety-net we welcome and befriend our neighbors, as a clearinghouse we graciously give of our resources, and as a developer we relationally build a stronger community.
