Eden Project Message To Churches
The East Nashville Cooperative Ministry is embarking on several new initiatives to address hunger in our community. While maintaining its emergency food relief efforts, ENCM is rethinking how we “feed the hungry.” We are inspired to help both recipients and supporters receive healthier benefits and build relationships across our urban community that can transform lives.
Local churches are invited to participate in these ground breaking projects. Many who feel they have little to give now have the opportunity to provide healthier food to their neighbors at little or no cost.
ENCM is seeking volunteers in the area to kick off The Eden Project, a ministry that partners families who grown their own food in home gardens with those who cannot. In addition to exchanging food and work, knowledge of how to grow food is passed on to those who face the threat of hunger.
Volunteers may also choose to donate their surplus garden produce to the East Nashville Cooperative Ministry or volunteer in the McCoy Memorial Garden. Food from these sources will supplement the non-perishables available in the emergency food boxes ENCM distributes.
A representative of ENCM would be happy to visit and speak to your church in further detail about these opportunities. If you have any questions about how to get involved or would like more information, please feel free to email Bonnie Bogen at bonnie@jbogen.com.
We hope that your church members will prayerfully consider seeking an end to hunger in East Nashville by joining in these transformative new efforts.
